Learn to Sail

Ages:  7-16 years
Class times:  One week - half day Monday - Thursday 9 am - Noon
(Please check schedule for dates/times)
Program cost:  $125 Members/$165 Non-members

In this class, youth sailors learn the basic skills to sail a small boat independently.  Sailors are taught the parts of the sailboat, the points of sail, capsize recovery, and basic knot tying.  Students are divided on skill level and instruction is tailored to that level to ensure students stay engaged and continue to enjoy their skill development.  Students will be divided based on lead instructor evaluation into one-person Optimist, or two-person 420.

All students will always wear life jackets.  Instructors, either in the student's boat or on a safety boat, accompany the students.  All instructors are experienced sailors and all have learned to sail in the DLYC Sailing School.

The DLYC is offering a limited number of scholarships for youths who need financial assistance to attend. Please contact Louis Csokasy at lrcsokasy@comcast.net or Jackie Comeau Bankowski at jcmgm@aol.com.
