The Social Side of the Diamond Lake Yacht Club

DLYC guidelines:

Consistent with State of Michigan requirements, face masks are no longer required at indoor or outdoor events for those who have been vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus.  Unvaccinated individuals should continue to wear masks at indoor events except when seated, and eating or drinking.  DLYC will continue to provide outdoor space for those members and guests more comfortable in an outdoor social environment.

Beginning in the spring each year, throughout the summer and into mid fall there are a variety of social activities taking place at the Diamond Lake Yacht Club.

Traditional events like the Pancake Breakfast, the Commodore’s Dinner and the Hog Roast have been held annually for decades.  Other popular summer parties over the years have included The Derby Party, Trivial Pursuit, Game Night, Margaritaville, Fashion Shows, Garden Parties,  Ice Cream Socials, and Pizza with Pizzazz, plus more casual Bring Your Own Appetizer get-togethers and free Happy Hours.  Fall events usually include a Football Party and the annual Chili Cook Off.  To see what is planned this year, click on the calendar.

Members enjoy getting to know each other at these parties and many strong friendships have evolved from working together at events as volunteers.

Volunteers

All of the Social Events at the DLYC are planned, hosted and run by volunteers.  Records of past events are available to party planners as well as contact information for caterers and other resources needed.

There is always a need for volunteers during a party to help out bartending, greeting guests at the front door, setting up the club and helping in the kitchen plus decorating and making food at times as well.  A person is hired for kitchen assistance and clean-up for the larger club events.
