Class Descriptions

Diamond Lake Sailing School 2024
As we continue to build on our on-going success with sailing classes, we will  are excited to be able to offer some new opportunities for adult participation this summer!
Our 2024 schedule highlights our Youth Sailing Classes  with the Morning  (7-10 years old) and Afternoon (11-16 years old)  and Kindersail  (5 and 6 years old) as a one week session July 1st-4th. The Morning Class will be utilizing Opti’s while the Afternoon Class will be a mix of Opti’s and 420’s.  We are in development to feature a members only one week, day long (9AM-4PM) youth class by adding a sailing workshop after a Morning Sail. More on this as it develops.
We are adding three (3) new classes for adults to participate:
Wind & Wine—for adults only. This will be a basic sailing skills single class with three (3) adult sailors and instructor on one of our larger boats. Sailors will learn the basic rigging and sailing skills, enjoy a sail around the lake, and finish with  discussion and wine on the shore. Get a group together and enjoy a sail around Diamond Lake!
Private Lessons—for all ages. Learn the basic sailing skills or enhance your sailing abilities with an instructor on the lake.
Classes can either be totally private or with instructors’ approval a small group of 2-3 persons.
Fun Sail—for all ages. While we have had “Fun Sail” in the past, it was only for our participants in our sailing classes to try to practice during the week. This season we are opening it up to all ages, including adults as well as youth sailors. It will be a      supervised sail, with safety boats and instructors on call for distress or emergency needs.
All  classes are limited by size for safety and all sailors will wear life jackets, and we will have licensed instructors available for all classes. Remember, Sailing is weather related—if unsafe, we will have to cancel the class. Make sure we can contact you
Volunteers—yes the sailing classes need you again! We will have a sign-up sheet at the Pancake Breakfast for adults to volunteer for a three (3) hour shift to help instructors during the sailing class. You do not need to know how to sail—only how to help out in case an adult is needed. Sailing off for now...more to come!
Remember, Member Sailing sign-up opens 2/1/24—secure your classes early.
